April Used Furniture & Household Goods Drive
Supporting Refugee Families Through Circle Home Charity

Key Information:

The Connections Ladies Social Club is partnering with Circle Home to collect gently used furniture and household goods for refugee families settling in Guelph.
-
Circle Home’s Furniture & Home Goods Bank allows families to select donated items to furnish their new homes.
-
This is an opportunity to give back and make a difference in someone's life!

Pickup Dates:

April 23-24 – Village houses & townhouses
-
May 3 – Including condos
-

Items will be picked up from porches, garages, or inside homes. If needed, teams will dismantle furniture for easy removal.

How to Prepare:
-
Small household items should be boxed and left on the porch if possible.
-
Look for a blue flyer in early April with a full list of accepted items & registration form.
-
Condos will have slightly different arrangements.

Complete your form to volunteer by April 16 to give back and make a difference in someone's life!

How Can I Volunteer?

Become a Furniture Bank Volunteer Team Member
Responsibilities Include:
​

Welcome donors, receive, record, and help organize donated furniture and household items
-
Greet newcomer families and learn more about what they need for their homes and families
-
Accompany families around the warehouse and help them select furniture and housewares
-
Record outgoing items
-
Work alongside other volunteers and visitors and support with basic administrative tasks
We are also seeking Furniture Bank volunteers to:
-
Assist with record keeping
-
Coordinate promotion via social media
-
Maintain email lists for information and newsletter sharing
-
Keep website content current
To Join, You Must:​

-
Be willing to commit to volunteering once a week for 3 hours, over a 6-month period. Shifts are currently scheduled Wednesdays from 3 pm to 6pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays 5pm to 8pm
-
Be at least 18 years old and comfortable conversing in English
-
Be comfortable with using technology and have access to an email
-
Be able to be standing/walking for a 3-hour shift on a concrete floor, and pack household items
-
Be comfortable working with people who do not speak English as their primary language
-
Have an understanding and knowledge, or a willingness to learn, about diverse cultures and the challenges for newcomers to Canada
